I’m a freelance translator living in Strasbourg.
I used to love travelling around the world seeing exotic wildlife, but had neither the ability nor the gear to take nice pictures. Time passed and opportunities dwindled. But when my son was three weeks old, a second-hand macro lens turned up in my local camera shop, and I realised that while he was napping during our daily strolls around the city parks, I could be taking photos of the insect life around me.
I developed an interest in birdwatching during the first Covid lockdown, when there was little else to do but look up and around. I didn’t think I’d see much more than pigeons and crows in the centre of such a big urban space, but soon came the sparrows, then the blue tits and greenfinches, and the daily visits from a pair of kestrels. Bug caught, long lens bought, and here we are. I hope you’ll enjoy looking at these images.
